Surrounded by residential development, Aaron Green Associates were challenged with designing a type of facility which is almost always distinguishes itself as an unsightly, but essential, component of any city’s infrastructure. Our firm’s response was a series of residentially scaled, concrete masonry and wood-finished buildings and fences, with broad, low-pitched shingle roofs that are intended to relate to their surroundings, effectively screening from view the inner workings of the typical city corporation yard. The entire complex was recessed into the site several feet below the surrounding streets to reduce the height even further and then landscaped per our firm’s recommendations.
The presentation renderings for this project were prepared by John Howe, a long-time associate and Chief Draftsman for Frank Lloyd Wright, who for three years was a member of the Aaron Green Associates office.
